Scholarship Scheme for Students with Special Needs (SSSN)

These are fully funded Fijian Government Scholarships for Students with Special Needs for studies in Fiji. 
Students completing their studies from the following institutions/schools are eligible to apply for the Scholarship Scheme for Students with Special Needs.
  1. Safe Care Homes registered with the Department of Social Welfare.
  2. Special Schools that accommodate children with special needs.
  3. Special Students enrolled for studies at any other Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts recognized schools in Fiji.
Twenty (20) full time scholarships for any award program are available for students with special needs for the year 2022.
The Scholarship does not sponsor Foundation studies, bridging courses, unclassified undergraduate programs, programs not attracting sufficient cross credits, short courses or franchise programs.

 Application Eligibility Criteria
 To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must satisfy all the eligibility criteria as follows:
  1. Applicants must be Fijian Citizens;
  2. Applicants must be ordinarily residents in Fiji for at least three years prior to the award commencement date;
  3. Applicant must have completed and passed at least Year 12 Examination;
  4. Full medical certificate confirming the permanent status of the impairment of the applicant must be attached with the application;
  5. Must be fully vaccinated if above the age of 18;
  6. Applicant must not be an existing student or applying to upgrade an existing technical, vocational or tertiary education; and
  7. Must have the final offer letter from a local qualifying Higher Education Institution (“HEI”) in an eligible award program.
Required Documents for Application
  1. An official academic transcript for the current highest qualification. In case you are in Year 12 or 13 or equivalent studies you must apply without the Year 12/13/equivalent studies results before the application closing date. However, you will need to submit the same as soon as the results are released, but no later than the application processing closing date.
  2. Offer letter from the Higher Education Institute. Students can apply without the final offer letter from the Higher Education Institutions, but need to submit the same as soon as the offer letters are received, but no later than the application processing closing date.
  3. Full medical certificate confirming the permanent status of the impairment.
  4. Certified true copy of the Birth Certificate.
  5. Copy of Student’s TIN Letter/FRCS-FNPF Joint Card.
  6. Vaccination/ Exemption Details (For 18 Years and above)
  7. Evidence of Parents’/Guardians’ Income (Salary Slip for working parents/guardians or Statutory Declaration prepared and signed by the parents/guardians and witnessed by a Justice of Peace (JP) or Commissioner of Oaths for parents/guardians who are not working or are in self-employment. Parents /Guardians running a business must submit the most recent tax assessment by FRCS).
  8. Copy of Parents’/Guardians’ TIN Letter/FRCS-FNPF Joint Card.
  9. Copy of bank statement with account under the applicant’s name.
  10. Recent passport size photo.
Scholarship Privileges
  1. Students awarded the SSSN Scholarship are entitled to the following benefits:
  2. Tuition Fee (As per bills raised by the HEI’s).
  3. General service/enrolment fees as billed by the Higher Education Institutions;
  4. Accommodation and Meals (Hostel or Rent) - Maximum of $2,400 per Semester or $2,000 per Trimester. Should the hostel and meals fees charged by the Higher Education Institute exceed the approved rates as per the award confirmation letter, you will be required to pay for any difference privately.
  5. Book Allowances − FJD $1,000 per annum.
  6. Incidental Allowances - FJD $1,000 per annum.
How to Apply
  1. Application qualifying Fijians for this scheme have an option to either apply online or manually.
  2. To apply manually: 
  3. Visit the TSLS Website www.tsls.com.fj , download and print Form TSLS 03.
  4. Fill the form, attach all the required documents and hand-deliver to a TSLS Office nearest to you.
  5. To apply online:
  6. Scan and get all the required documents ready before starting the process of applying online in the pdf, png, or jpg format.
  7. Visit www.tsls.com.fj and register for the TSLS online application. Applicants cannot apply online unless registered first.
  8. Once registered, fill the appropriate information.
  9. Upload all the required documents.
  10. Submit the online application.
Submitting a completed application package does not guarantee approval.

Assessment & Notification of Award
  1. The Scholarship Committee shall be responsible for assessment of applications against the set criteria.
  2. The committee may seek further information to verify details submitted by the applicant.
  3. All scholarship application will go through an extensive review and TSLS’s decision shall be final and cannot be appealed.
  4. Official indication of being granted a scholarship is the receipt of the award confirmation letter from TSLS.
 Scholarship Acceptance Dead Line
  1. All scholarships offered must be accepted within 7 days from the date stated in the Provisional SSSN Offer Letter.
  2. Offers not accepted by the deadline will be declined.
  3. To accept the offer, applicants must sign and upload the Provisional Offer Letter and Bond Form on their Landing Page (Application Portal) or hand deliver to the nearest TSLS Office.
