Scholarship Scheme for Students with Special Needs (SSSN)
These are fully funded Fijian Government Scholarships for Students with Special Needs for studies in Fiji.
Students completing their studies from the following institutions/schools are eligible to apply for the Scholarship Scheme for Students with Special Needs.
Safe Care Homes registered with the Department of Social Welfare.
Special Schools that accommodate children with special needs.
Special Students enrolled for studies at any other Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts recognized schools in Fiji.
Twenty (20) full time scholarships for any award program are available for students with special needs for the year 2022.
The Scholarship does not sponsor Foundation studies, bridging courses, unclassified undergraduate programs, programs not attracting sufficient cross credits, short courses or franchise programs.

Application Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must:
be a Fijian citizen;
be ordinarily resident in Fiji for at least three (3) years before the award commencement date unless determined by the Board or delegated authority on case-by-case basis;
have completed and passed at least Year 12 Examination or the Equivalence as determined by the Board or delegated authority;
provide full medical certificate confirming the permanent status of the impairment of the applicant must be attached with the application;
not be an existing student or applying to upgrade an existing technical, vocational or tertiary education;
secure a place at an eligible institution by means of a final offer letter; and
be being fully vaccinated or exempted by Ministry of Health and Medical Services if above the age of 18.
Required Documents for Application
The following must be submitted by the applicant as part of their application.
an official academic transcript for the current highest qualification. In case you are in Year 12 or 13 or equivalent deemed by Board or delegated authority you must apply without the Year 12/13/Foundation Studies results before the application closing date. However, you will need to submit the same as soon as the results are released, but no later than the application processing closing date).
final offer letter from the Higher Education Institute. (Students can apply without the final offer letter from the Higher Education Institutions, but need to submit the same as soon as the offer letters are received, but no later than the application processing closing date).
full medical certificate confirming the permanent status of the impairment.
birth certificate;
letter from FRCS stating the student’s tax identification number, or FRCS and Fiji National Provident Fund joint card;
evidence of the student’s supporting parents’ or guardians’ income (salary slip for working parents/guardians, most recent tax assessment by FRCS or statutory declaration as applicable);
supporting parents’ or guardians’ letter from FRCS stating their tax identification number, or FRCS and Fiji National Provident Fund joint card;
bank statement with an active account under the applicant’s name;
recent passport-size photo;
evidence of applicant being fully vaccinated or exempted by Ministry of Health and Medical Services if above the age of 18; and
such other documents as may be requested by TSLS.
Scholarship Privileges
Students awarded the SSSN Scholarship are entitled to the following benefits:
Tuition Fee (As per bills raised by the HEI’s).
General service/enrolment fees as billed by the Higher Education Institutions;
Accommodation and Meals (Hostel or Rent) - Maximum of $2,400 per Semester or $2,000 per Trimester. Should the hostel and meals fees charged by the Higher Education Institute exceed the approved rates as per the award confirmation letter, you will be required to pay for any difference privately.
Book Allowances − FJD $1,000 per annum.
Incidental Allowances - FJD $1,000 per annum.

Fill the form, attach all the required documents and hand-deliver to a TSLS Office nearest to you.
Late and incomplete application will not be considered for an assessment.
Submitting a completed application package does not guarantee approval.
Assessment & Notification of Scholarship
TSLS shall be responsible for assessment of applications against the set criteria.
TSLS may seek further information to verify details submitted by the applicant.
All application will go through an extensive review and TSLS’s decision shall be final and cannot be appealed.
Official indication of being granted a sponsorship is the receipt of the award confirmation letter from TSLS.
Scholarship Acceptance Dead Line
All Scholarship offered must be accepted within 7 days from the date stated in the Provisional SSSN Offer Letter.
Offers not accepted by the deadline will be declined.
To accept the offer, applicants must sign and hand deliever the Provisional Offer Letter and Bond Form to the nearest TSLS office.
