TELS for Private Sector Employee
Application Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must:
be a Fijian citizen;
be ordinarily resident in Fiji for at least three (3) years before the award commencement date unless determined by the Board or delegated authority on case-by-case basis;
secure a place at an eligible institution by means of a final offer letter;
be in employment at the time of application and remain in employment during the course of studies (Leave with/Without Pay letter from the employer is acceptable). Resignation/termination from employment post the confirmation of funding will result in cessation of funding from the following academic term.
not be earning a gross income of more than $25,000 per annum;
be seeking to attain an academic qualification (first higher education qualification) or upgrade an existing qualification (in the same area of studies and only if the earlier qualification was not funded under TELS or any other Fijian Government Schemes) up to the maximum of first Bachelor’s degree at an eligible institution either as a part-time or full-time student.
be being fully vaccinated or exempted by Ministry of Health and Medical Services above the age of 18.
Required Documents for the Application
The following must be submitted by the Applicant as part of their application:
official academic transcript/certificate for the Existing Highest Qualification.
final Offer letter from an eligible institution in an eligible programme.
birth certificate;
letter from FRCS stating the student’s tax identification number, or FRCS and Fiji National Provident Fund joint card;
evidence of the student’s supporting parents’ or guardians’ income (salary slip for working parents/guardians, most recent tax assessment by FRCS or statutory declaration as applicable);
supporting parents’ or guardians’ letter from FRCS stating their tax identification number, or FRCS and Fiji National Provident Fund joint card;
employment contract or letter of employment confirmation from the employer.
recent pay slip which should not be older than one month old at the time of application.
recent FNPF statement which should clearly show the last payment by the applicant’s current employer.
bank statement with an active account under the applicant’s name;
recent passport-size photo;
evidence of applicant being fully vaccinated or exempted by Ministry of Health and Medical Services above the age of 18; and
such other documents as may be requested by TSLS.
Funding Benefits
Applicants approved to TELS for Private Sector Employee are entitled to:
Tuition Only
Upon application for the
TELS for Accommodation Support Scheme
and subject to the zoning policy and combined parental income (no more than $50,000 per annum) the following allowances may be approved at the maximum rate of:
Hostel Fees with meals to a maximum of $2025/semester, $1688/trimester or $1013 per quarter.
Hostel Fees without meals to a maximum of $1125/semester, $968/trimester or $563 per quarter.
Rent- $250 per month.
Bus Fare- $41/week;
Food expenses- $50/week; and
Incidental and Stationery allowance- $1000/annum.
Applicants who wish to apply for allowances, must do so together with their application for TELS for Private Sector Employee. At stage 3 of the application, student need to select “Tuition and Accommodation Support Scheme”. Selecting TELS tuition only means that a student is applying for tuition fees only and no allowances will be paid.
How to Apply
Scan and get all the required documents ready before starting the process of applying online in the pdf, png, or jpg format. File size should not exceed 5MB.
Visit
www.tsls.com.fj
and register for TSLS online application by creating your own email address using Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail.
Once registered fill in the appropriate information and upload all the required documents.
Submit the online application by checking in the declaration.
Check your landing page on the status and progress of your application.
Students will not be able to submit the online application unless all mandatory fields are filled (With the exception of final programme offer letter from the eligible institutions).
Late and incomplete applications will not be considered for assessment.
Students applying online will be able to log in and check the application status at any time and also print and upload the TSLS Offer Letter, Bond Form and download their confirmation letter online.
Submitting a completed application package does not guarantee approval.
Assessment & Notification of Sponsorship
TSLS shall be responsible for assessment of applications against the set criteria.
TSLS may seek further information to verify details submitted by the applicant.
All application will go through an extensive review and TSLS’s decision shall be final and cannot be appealed.
Official indication of being granted a sponsorship is the receipt of the award confirmation letter from TSLS.
Funding Acceptance Dead Line
All funding offered must be accepted within 7 days from the date stated in the Provisional TELS For Private Sector Employee Offer Letter.
Offers not accepted by the deadline will be declined.
To accept the offer, applicants must sign and upload the Provisional Offer Letter and Bond Form on their Landing Page (Application Portal).
