The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Hon. Biman Prasad, Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro and Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) Board, Senior Leadership Team, Management and Staff gathered on Friday, 11 July 2025, at Paradiso Restaurant and Bar in Suva to bid farewell to the outgoing CEO, Dr. Hasmukh Lal.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Hon. Biman Prasad, extended his heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Government. He commended Dr. Lal for his transformational leadership and innovative contributions to TSLS.
“His dedication, foresight, and ability to bring bold new ideas into action have truly strengthened the organisation,” said Hon. Prasad. “On behalf of the Government, I thank you, Dr. Lal, for your service and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.”
Furthermore, The Minister for Education, Hon. Aseri Radrodro also acknowledged Dr. Lal’s contributions, calling it a privilege to work with him over the past three years. “His leadership style was steady, focused, and quietly effective,” said Hon. Radrodro. “He delivered necessary changes not through grandstanding but through systems and hard work.”
He further highlighted the successful rollout of TSLS’s ICT Transformation Policy under Dr. Lal’s leadership, which led to several landmark digital platforms that modernized operations and enhanced stakeholder engagement.
The TSLS Board Chairperson, Ms. Ro Teimumu Kepa, praised Dr. Lal’s visionary leadership and commitment to excellence. “You leave TSLS stronger, more resilient, and poised for continued success,” she said, noting the positive cultural shifts, new scholarship schemes, and digital innovations brought in during his tenure.
His legacy at TSLS sets a benchmark in institutional leadership and public sector innovation.
As Dr. Lal embarks on a new chapter in the private sector, the Ministers and TSLS Board extend their heartfelt best wishes and express confidence in TSLS’s continued success during this transition.
