The Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) and Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marks a significant milestone in inter-agency collaboration to better serve the Fiji citizen. The signing took place at the TSLS Headquarters in Garden City, today (23.01.2025).
This partnership aligns with the shared commitment of both organizations to provide seamless and efficient services. The MoU facilitates the verification of employment history for sponsored graduates and any sponsored students without complete qualification who has worked in the country.
Under this agreement, FNPF will act as an advisory agency, providing essential employment history data to TSLS upon request. TSLS will collaborate with FNPF to verify employment records for bond monitoring.
The Chief Executive Officer of TSLS, Dr. Hasmukh Lal, said that this collaboration demonstrates our dedication in strengthening bond monitoring systems and related processes for efficiency and transparency.
He further stated that under the law the sponsored graduates are supposed to inform TSLS about their employment status within six (6) months. “I urge graduates to do the needful to help them with a smooth process of bond monitoring and clearance. Those who have served their bond are requested to obtain clearance from TSLS to have their names removed from the Immigration watchlist”, said Dr. Lal.
The Chief Executive Officer of FNPF, Mr. Viliame Vodonaivalu, emphasized that accurate employment data will help track graduates’ professional development.
“The Fund is pleased to partner with TSLS through this MoU, as we are happy to assist in upholding ethical standards regarding bond monitoring. We believe this partnership is beneficial for all parties, fostering a sustainable monitoring and evaluation structure that supports TSLS’s mission of providing access to quality education,” said Mr. Vodonaivalu.
This collaboration underscores the shared vision of TSLS and FNPF in leveraging resources to deliver enhanced services. The MoU establishes a framework for continuous improvement and service excellence while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and data security.
