The Board of the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) announces that Dr. Hasmukh Lal, Chief Executive Officer of TSLS, will conclude his tenure successfully with the organisation effective, Monday, 14th July 2025, after his resignation on 1st May 2025.

The Board acknowledges Dr. Lal’s contributions to the organisation and extends its sincere appreciation for his service. Under his leadership, TSLS has taken important steps toward widening access to tertiary education, improving internal systems and bringing operation excellence and ensuring more effective and scaffolding support for students across Fiji and those on overseas scholarships.

Dr. Lal stated that “It has been an honour to lead TSLS towards  transformation and growth. I am grateful to the Government, Board, staff, and partners for their support throughout my tenure. I leave knowing that TSLS is well-positioned to continue serving the people of Fiji through operational excellence. I thank the Board for the renewed contract till 2028 and accepting my decision to take up next role in the private sector. My best wishes are with the organisation and where approached, I will render my support based on my proven and demonstrated expertise”.

Dr. Hasmukh Lal’s tenure as CEO of TSLS has been defined by transformative vision, data-driven leadership, and a strong commitment to service excellence and equity in education. His initiatives have not only modernized the institution but have made it more inclusive, efficient, and aligned with Fiji’s broader human capital development priorities.

His legacy at TSLS sets a benchmark in institutional leadership and public sector innovation.

The TSLS Board respects Dr. Lal’s career aspirations to join the private sector and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours and expresses confidence in the continued effectiveness of the institution during this transition.
