The Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) to foster formal working relationship, at the TSLS HQ today.

The signing of the MOU is significant given FCEF is one of Fiji’s largest private sector bodies and is a premier employers’ representative. The collaboration will be win-win to have industry-matched skills set development through scholarships, study loans and grants.

TSLS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hasmukh Lal said the signing of MOU was noteworthy as FCEF will play active role in providing critical feedback from the private sector that will be crucial to allocate demand driven scholarships, study loans and study scholarships, FCEF’s advise will be taken in processing awards based on the criteria”

FCEF Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kameli Batiweti said “this MOU is now recognising a long standing issue that the private sector has been advocating on and TSLS has allowed an avenue to address this issue. We are thankful for Dr. Hasmukh and the team at TSLS on the provision for in-service private sector scholarships and recognising the need to amplify on human capital development. The current trend with labour mobility now requires us to upscale our ability to develop our human resources so that the impacts can be mitigated”.
